Monogram has finally made its return with designers allowing customers to add their own personal touches on fashion or travel items. Individuals are encouraged to ‘stamp’ their style- literally through monogramming.

“We’re in an age where everyone wants to stand out from the rest, its that selfie and ‘about me’ culture, and I think this taps into that, people love seeing their name on stuff, it’s like their own personal brand.” (Alyce, 2015)

Designer Louis Vuitton offers consumers a range of bags, wallets and travel goods to personalize. Once the item has been selected customers can choose from a wide range of colours, fonts and positions before placing their monogram on their product which is completed in-store.

Various fashionistas are adopting this trend in order to create a bag or product that isn’t easily recognizable for its brand. Almost every shopaholic owns a designer bag with its renown logo printed throughout, however monogramming has changed the fashion game allowing consumers to purchase subtle bags and adding their own personal stamp.

Brands such as Louis Vuitton and Chanel have created iconic designs which are purchased as investments due to their ‘monogram’ and brand name. (De Bautista, 2016) If handbags are carried for the love of the brand, why not flaunt a bag that is beautifully unique due to your own personal mark, a bag that flaunts you!
